Arizona pup looking for forever home after freeway rescue

PHOENIX, AZ – A dog is looking for a new home after being found running on a busy Arizona freeway interchange.

Grace Gompers spotted the dog on the mini stack, a major freeway interchange, and fearing he might be hit by traffic, she decided to intervene. She stopped her car, chased after the dog, and eventually caught up to him. The dog, terrified, bit her hand before crawling under her car for safety.

Once the dog was safely in the car, his demeanor changed—he calmed down, resting his head on Gompers’ leg and showing affection. Gompers took the dog, whom she named Skippy, to the Maricopa County Animal Shelter, but they were unable to find a microchip.

Although Gompers has grown attached to Skippy, she is unable to adopt him and hopes to find him a loving home. The dog must quarantine at the shelter due to the bite, but Gompers is hopeful that someone will offer him the home he deserves.
