CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Charleston’s police chief said there could have been a much different outcome if not for the heroics of a K-9 officer, who was shot and killed by a suspect who was struggling Saturday with two other officers.
Police Chief James “Tyke” Hunt said during a news conference on Monday that the city plans to have a funeral service with full honors for K-9 Axel, who died after being shot by a suspect during an arrest attempt on East Point Drive.
