China signals a complete ban on the eating of dog meat ahead of notorious Yulin festival

China has signalled that it could ban dog meat from the dinner table after approving a proposed directive to classify dogs as companion animals instead of farm animals officially.

The policy was passed just three weeks before this year’s Yulin dog meat festival . It can potentially prevent around 10million dogs being killed for their meat a year.
