Paris, FR – A dog named Amalka, whose escape from a carrier caused the closure of two runways at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, has been reunited with her owner after nine days of searching.
Amalka, a female dog, slipped out of her cage on November 19 during an unloading operation and ran loose at the airport. Authorities launched an intense search, including using a drone and deploying search parties, while also closing the runways temporarily. The closures were timed during off-peak hours to minimize disruption to flights.
Amalka was eventually found in a park near the airport in Dammartin-en-Goele. The dog was returned to her owner, an Austrian tourist who had flown from Vienna to France on Air France.
The airline confirmed the reunion, and both Amalka and her owner were able to continue their travels soon after. This incident echoed a similar one at Atlanta’s airport in September, where a Chihuahua mix also escaped, leading to a lengthy search before being found.
