K9 Streeter awarded ‘Medal of Courage’ for bridge jump in Escambia County suspects chase

ESCAMBIA COUNTY, FL – Escambia County K9 Streeter was awarded the “Medal of Courage” on Thursday by the sheriff’s office.

K9 Streeter of the sheriff’s office received the “Medal of Courage” for his brave actions. During a pursuit of suspects involved in a drive-by shooting, Streeter jumped off the Highway 90 bridge after them into the water.

Despite falling approximately 30-40 feet and sustaining minor injuries, he was recovered by deputies and quickly returned to duty.

Named after fallen officer Corporal Eric Streeter, K9 Streeter demonstrated dedication and bravery reminiscent of his namesake, embodying the department’s commitment to never relent in the face of danger.
