Massachusetts family reunited with stolen dog after 11 years apart

STOUGHTON, Mass. — More than a decade after a little Yorkshire terrier was stolen from a grieving family, the pooch is back at home.

Stoughton police said Animal Control Officer Michelle Carlos responded to a report Wednesday of a loose Yorkie running around on Record Street.

The microchip revealed that the pooch was named Rex, and the 12-year-old belonged to a woman in Boston named Marzena Niejadlik.

When police reached out, Niejadlik told them that Rex had been stolen from her in 2011 in Boston after she had purchased the pup for her family to help ease the pain of losing a family member.
