HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. – Historically, dogs and mail carriers have had a contentious relationship, often depicted in jokes about dogs chasing postal workers. However, in Hoffman Estates, an endearing exception is celebrated.
For nearly three years, Frannie Joy, a Chihuahua, has eagerly greeted Postman Dan Larsen every day, running to his truck and showering him with affection. This weekend marked their 500th meeting.
Frannie’s owner, Lisa Laskey, has documented their heartwarming interaction online, gaining thousands of followers and support from people who find comfort in their story.
Inspired by the positive impact, Lisa encouraged fans to send Christmas cards to Dan and has even published a series of children’s books about Frannie and Dan, with plans to donate some proceeds to charity.
The local mayor has honored the duo with a special day and a key to the village, highlighting their unique and uplifting bond.
