Windsor, NC – A dog neglected by his former owner for four years is spending his first Christmas inside a home with a loving family.
The pup, named Duke, was kept chained outside all day and night — regardless of weather — by his previous owners in the rural town of Windsor, North Carolina, according to a press release from PETA.
Duke was tied up on the property with five other dogs but was never close enough to reach or play with the other canines.
After one of the pup’s siblings was found dead on her chain, he was seized by law enforcement — and a PETA fieldworker adopted him.
