BALTIMORE, MD – We introduced you to Linus, a dog that was featured in the puppy bowl while representing Baltimore and the Ronnie Stanley Foundation, but he is more than just a cute pup.
Lakeland Elementary/Middle School is like any other school, but last week there was a dog tearing it up on the court.
That isn’t air bud shooting hoops at Lakeland- it’s Dave, or as you may know him from the Puppy Bowl, Linus.
Dave is still in the process of getting his certification but still spreading love while training, like he did for the kids at Lakeland.
@ronniesfoundation79 Dave had another amazing visit with his friends at Lakeland Elementary Middle School! We wanted to thank them for their incredible support for Dave (fka Linus) in the Puppy Bowl. We delivered more than 80 winter coats, as well as socks and gloves that were all donated for students in need. Dave then spent some time with his favorite pre-K class. They were so excited to talk about watching him in the Puppy Bowl! They remembered he was on “Team Blue”, aka Team Fluff. They helped him practice Sit, Stay and Down, an important part of his therapy dog training. They even cheered him on as he played some basketball! Their chants of “You can do it, Dave” could help move mountains. Even children who are normally shy and/or less enthusiastic about school were excited to talk about Dave, help him with training and just spend time with him. This is why we LOVE being able to have dogs help children, and children help dogs. We were at loss for words when we received a photo of what one of the shyer students chose to draw during art later that day – our RSF logo!! His teacher shared she’s never seen him so happy about school. Knowing we made a positive impact on these children and gave them some beautiful memories makes us beyond proud and grateful. We would like to thank our friends at @Show Your Soft Side and @Marley’s Mutts for being incredible role models and teaching the importance of educating children about rescue. They have been paving the way for years showing the healing benefits of animals with children and we are grateful to now play a part.
