Gresham Police K9 retires, new K9 begins training

GRESHAM, Ore. – One of the Gresham Police Department’s (GPD) longest-serving K9s, named Recon, formally retired on Monday.

Recon began his career in Gresham in the spring of 2015 and worked his last shift in the fall of 2023.

In 2017, Recon became a dual-purpose canine, who worked in both patrol operations and narcotics detection. Throughout his career, Recon aided in more than 140 captures and over 500 surrenders.
