JOINT BASE ELMENDORF-RICHARDSON, AK – Most dogs serve as man’s best friend, but K-9′s with Alaska’s armed forces are man’s best partner. Military Working Dogs (MWDs) with the United States Air Force Security Forces demonstrated their capabilities during National Police Week on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson.

According to U.S. Air Force Captain Gregory Spellman, the week kicked off with an opening ceremony at Heritage Park followed by a 24-hour vigil walk or run with the flag to honor those lost in the line of duty.
