International Dog Day started as National Dog Day in the US in 2004 by pet and family lifestyle expert Colleen Paige.
International Dog Day is celebrated annually on August 26 to respect and celebrate every dog, no matter what breed they are, and to draw attention to the plight of canines and encourage adoption.
