NAPA, CA – A California Highway Patrol K9 was being credited for helping to uncover 70 pounds of suspected methamphetamine during a traffic stop in Napa County.
The K9 named Champ detected the presence of controlled substances in a vehicle after the driver was pulled over for tailgating. Champ quickly alerted its handler, leading to the discovery of 70 pounds of suspected methamphetamine valued at approximately $250,000.
The occupants of the vehicle were arrested, and an investigation into the incident commenced following the seizure of the illegal drugs.
