Lost dog found in abandoned Detroit house reunited with owner after 10 months

Meet Leo – he had been missing for a long time – but now this little French bulldog is one step closer to home.

Detroit Animal Care and Control investigator Melanie Fulkerson discovered Leo, confirmed his identity through his microchip, and contacted his owner, Donna McRae, who had relocated to Arizona.

McRae, who had been searching for Leo since he went missing in Dearborn, was overwhelmed with joy upon learning that her pet was found.

The case underscores the importance of microchipping pets and keeping information up-to-date. Detroit Animal Care and Control will offer a free vaccination and microchip clinic on Labor Day for local pet owners.
