GASTONIA, N.C. – K-9 Bo, a bloodhound from the Gastonia Police Department, has been named the 2024 Hero Dog of the Year for Law Enforcement by the American Humane Association.
This award recognizes Bo’s exceptional service and life-saving efforts in the Gastonia community, including locating missing persons and apprehending criminals. His remarkable scent-tracking skills were highlighted by a recent case where he successfully found a missing child after tracking for seven miles in a wooded area.
Chief Trent Conard praised Bo’s dedication and impact on public safety. A formal recognition ceremony is scheduled for January, and Bo will also compete for the title of Top Dog 2024.
