ALEXANDER, ME – Pamela Helmstadter, a Maine woman, recounted her incredible survival story after being lost in the woods for four days with her dog, Lucy.
While hiking with her husband, John, the couple took a different route, and after John fell several times, Pamela went for help but ended up getting lost. Without a phone, she tried to find her way out, surviving on peat moss and rainwater.
Lucky provided vital comfort, staying close to Pamela and even laying on top of her when rescuers arrived. Sadly, John, who was 81 and had health issues, passed away after falling. Their other dog, which was with John, returned home, leading neighbors to call for help. As of October 22, Pamela is recovering in the hospital.
