Psychotherapist and therapy dog offer support for students at Lincoln Public Schools

LINCOLN, NE – Lincoln Public Schools has welcomed Liesel Hogan, a new psychotherapist, along with her therapy dog, Yeti, as part of its behavioral violence prevention program.

Yeti, a certified therapy dog, plays a crucial role in easing interactions with students, often serving as an “ice breaker.” The three-year-old dog helps facilitate connections, making interactions more approachable.

The duo will work with the LPS Threat Assessment Team to support students at risk of self-harm or harming others. Hogan tailors her support for students of all ages, addressing behavioral issues and focusing on stress management and mental health.

The positive reception of Yeti has been notable, not just among students but also among staff at the district office.
