Therapy dog helps kids trick-or-treat in the hospital

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA – Many kids enjoy Halloween festivities, but some miss out when they’re in the hospital. At UVA Health Children’s, however, patients received a spooky surprise from a furry friend: Sully, a therapy dog.

Sully has been brightening spirits at the hospital and cancer center for two years. On Halloween Day, this six-year-old Bernese mountain dog made rounds to deliver treats, bringing joy to families during their hospital stay.

Amy Cesak, Manager of Patient and Family Centered Care, highlighted that this gesture helps families recognize they can still participate in cherished traditions despite their circumstances.
