LAUREL, MT – At Laurel Middle School, a unique campaign is underway for Jefferson for President 2024, but it’s not your typical political race.
The candidate is Mr. Jefferson, a three-year-old English yellow lab who serves as the school’s therapy dog. Known for his calming presence, Jefferson has been helping students and staff de-stress for a year, especially on busy days like Election Day.
Inspired by a student’s playful poster, teacher Amy James launched the campaign to engage students in the election process and promote kindness. Over 300 Jefferson for President shirts were sold or donated, uniting students across all social backgrounds.
On Election Day, students eagerly supported their beloved dog, showing how Jefferson brings joy and camaraderie to the school.
