OAKMONT, PA – A 180-pound dog named Jinxy was rescued by the Oakmont Volunteer Fire Department after falling 50 feet down a cliff on Wednesday.
Initially, responders thought they were rescuing a man and his small dog, but it turned out to be a man, two small dogs, and the large Jinxy. The firefighters used a stokes basket—typically used for humans—to secure Jinxy, then carefully lifted him up with ropes.
Thanks to the efforts of volunteer firemen Joey Luciana, Joey Flanick, John Rickey, and Mason Rocicot, all three dogs and their owner were safely rescued. Jinxy was checked by a vet and is doing well. This was the third cliffside rescue the department had performed in the past month.
