ST. LOUIS COUNTY, MO – A dog’s quick actions likely saved the lives of a Eureka family when a fire broke out at their home late Thursday night.
The Biderman family—Geoff, Breanna, and their two young children—were about to go to sleep when their dog began pacing restlessly, alerting them that something was wrong. As they smelled smoke, they quickly evacuated.
By the time crews arrived at 11:50 p.m., the house and garage were fully engulfed in flames. Geoff ran back in to rescue their dogs, but they lost most of their belongings, including a cat.
Thankfully, the family escaped without injury, thanks to the dog’s warning. The fire also caused heat damage to nearby homes. The cause is under investigation but does not appear suspicious.
