Vito the pug celebrates National Dog Show win on TODAY plaza

New York, NY – Vito, a charming pug with the “perfect pug mug,” took home the top prize at the 2024 National Dog Show, which was broadcast after the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Along with his handler Michael Scott and show host David Frei, Vito, the winner of the 23rd annual National Dog Show, visited the TODAY plaza to discuss the moment he was crowned Best in Show.

In addition to winning Best in Show, Vito, who is also ranked the No. 2 toy dog in America, competed against over 2,000 dogs from 205 breeds. Judges praised his compact build, expressive face, and confident presence.

Michael Scott, Vito’s handler, attributed his success to a healthy diet and regular exercise. After the win, Vito celebrated with his favorite treats. He now returns home to Chapel Hill, North Carolina, to enjoy his new title and a well-deserved rest.
