Two dozen chihuahuas pups abandoned at North Bay roadside

NAPA, CA – Over two dozen chihuahuas, abandoned on the roadside in Calistoga, were found in the cold Thursday night and rescued by animal control officers.

The 25 puppies were brought to the Napa County Animal Shelter, where they received check-ups and shots. The shelter believes the dogs were likely owned by a breeder or someone who allowed uncontrolled mating.

While the pups are safe, the shelter is struggling with overcrowding and the challenge of finding them new homes. Many animal rescue organizations have offered support, which has provided hope.

The shelter plans to post photos of the dogs for adoption in the coming weeks. Due to the overall increase in animal intakes, including dogs, cats, and rabbits, the shelter is under significant strain in trying to find homes for all the animals.
