WEST PALM BEACH, FL – Rusty, a senior dog once confined to a small, dirty pen in North Carolina for nearly a decade, is now thriving in West Palm Beach with his new owner, Hannah Caldwell.
After seeing Rusty’s rescue story on PETA’s website, Caldwell, a long-time admirer of rescue dogs, adopted him in mid-August. Since then, she has been teaching him new tricks, and Rusty, who is “very food motivated,” has already learned how to sit, shake, and lie down.
Caldwell encourages others to consider adopting rescue dogs, especially seniors, and is thrilled by how Rusty’s personality has blossomed. He’s become more outgoing, loves car rides, and enjoys interacting with other dogs.
As the holidays approach, Caldwell looks forward to her family visiting, where Rusty will get to play with their dogs—a stark contrast to his earlier life. Rusty’s story proves that even an older dog can learn new tricks and find happiness in a loving home.
