Rescued dog becomes healing hero for Thomasville Fire & Rescue

Thomasville, N.C. – Doc, a remarkable rescue dog, has joined Thomasville Fire & Rescue as a therapy dog, making history as possibly the first rescue dog in North Carolina specifically trained for this role.

Rescued by Forgotten, Now Family Rescue after being abandoned with his mother and siblings, Doc’s transformation from a neglected puppy to a trained therapy dog is nothing short of extraordinary. Recently welcomed into the Thomasville Fire & Rescue Department, he is believed to be the first rescue dog in the state trained specifically for this important role.

Trained at K9 Responder Academy, Doc helps reduce stress and provide emotional support in the high-pressure world of firefighting. His calming presence helps lower anxiety, ease emotional strain, and offer comfort to both firefighters and the community.
