New York, NY – The Danish-Swedish farmdog has been officially recognized by the American Kennel Club (AKC) as its 202nd breed.
This recognition opens the door for these versatile, energetic dogs to compete in prestigious events like the Westminster Kennel Club and AKC National Championship.
Originally from Denmark and southern Sweden, the farmdog was historically used for rodent control, herding, and even performing in circuses.
While the breed’s popularity has grown in recent years, there are concerns that rapid growth could lead to irresponsible breeding practices, similar to the issues seen with the French bulldog.
