After 67 days lost, Dakota the dog reunites with owner thanks to local heroes’ efforts

Cary, NC – Dakota, a dog missing for over 60 days, was reunited with his owner, Sheri Caldwell, thanks to the efforts of five strangers, three hidden cameras, and plenty of meaty treats.

Sheri had left Dakota with a pet sitter, but the dog ran off during a walk and couldn’t be found. Weeks later, Kelly Walsh spotted Dakota in her backyard, leading to a coordinated search with animal rescuer Jackie Larson. They set up a feeding station and trail cameras, which eventually captured Dakota’s image.

Overcome with emotion upon confirming it was her dog, Sheri was finally able to reunite with Dakota after more than two months, a moment she will always cherish.
