Annual wiener dog race held at Batavia Downs

BATAVIA, N.Y. – Batavia Downs Gaming hosted its annual wiener dog race and family fun day, attracting dozens of dachshunds and their owners.

The event featured racing heats, with winners receiving free play, while the top three finishers in the championship race earned food vouchers and a complimentary hotel stay.

Activities included pony rides, pumpkin decorating, face painting, and kettle corn. Cartoonist Michael Sparling, known as Mr. Scribbles, entertained children by turning their scribbles into cartoons.

The event is a beloved fall tradition at Batavia Downs, according to president and CEO Henry Wojtaszek.
