Linthicum, MD – Argo, a highly skilled explosives detection dog at Baltimore-Washington International Airport, is one of 12 TSA dogs featured in the 2025 TSA canine calendar.
The 9-year-old black Labrador retriever patrols the airport, using his finely tuned sense of smell to detect potential explosives. When Argo detects something suspicious, such as a person carrying a decoy with explosive-like scents, he alerts his handler, Jonathan Lilly. After successfully identifying a threat, Argo is rewarded with his favorite toy—a tennis ball.
Argo and Lilly have been a team for seven years, providing security at BWI and major events like the Super Bowl. Despite his age, Argo still approaches his work with the enthusiasm of a puppy and undergoes ongoing training to keep his skills sharp.
At home, Argo enjoys napping, and Lilly plans to adopt him when he retires. Their bond has only grown stronger over the years, and Lilly is confident their partnership will continue for many more years.
