Barni, SFO bomb-sniffing dog, wins TSA’s Cutest Canine contest

SAN FRANCISCO, CA – An explosives detection canine at San Francisco International Airport has been dubbed the winner of the Transportation Security Administration’s (TSA) 2024 Cutest Canine Contest.

Barni, a 5-year-old German Shorthaired Pointer, has been named the winner of a social media voting contest.

Barni, who works with his handler Michelle Cogel at SFO as a passenger screening canine, helps with explosives detection.

At home, Barni enjoys playing fetch and chasing squirrels. He will be featured on the cover of the TSA’s 2025 Canine Calendar, set to be released in December.
