Dog missing since Hurricane Milton reunites with Bay Area family

Ruskin, FL – A redbone coonhound named Miles, who had been lost for 86 days, was finally reunited with his owner, all thanks to the efforts of two compassionate strangers.

Deborah Newell is forever grateful to Jinger Gordon and Kent Hickman, who tracked down Miles after he and his three brothers escaped during a storm on October 10. While the other dogs returned, Miles remained missing, and despite Newell’s efforts with flyers and social media posts, hope was fading.

Meanwhile, Gordon and Hickman, after seeing a post about a malnourished red hound near a railroad bridge, ventured out and, against the odds, found Miles. They contacted Newell, who quickly arrived with food and a blanket to lure him in. After some moments of calling, Miles emerged and ran into Newell’s arms.

Now safely home, Miles will be gradually reintroduced to his brothers. Beach Paws Rescue, who helped in the search, emphasized the importance of community involvement in such cases, saying, “If you see something, say something.”
