Dog resting at home after being rescued from freezing water

MIDLAND, Mich. – A dog in Midland had a harrowing start to his Monday morning when he fell through the ice during his morning walk.

The Midland Fire Department said it responded to a call for a dog that fell through the ice at Emerson Park in Midland while chasing some deer.

“He was struggling for almost 25 minutes and almost to the point that they could not survive him,”said Sarah Gushow, the lead licensed vet tech and medical manager at M-20 Animal Hospital.

That dog is now home recovering after life-saving measures were taken to keep him alive.
