Elderly dog taken from front yard in Swampscott, found after search

Swampscott, MA – A 14-year-old dog named Trudy, a hound mix, was taken from her yard in Swampscott, Massachusetts, on Tuesday morning but was later safely returned to her family.

The incident occurred around 10 a.m. at a home on Bates Road. Security footage showed a man and woman in a white van taking Trudy, who had recently undergone back surgery. The police released the footage and requested the public’s help in identifying the suspects.

By evening, someone contacted the police, explaining they had taken the dog by mistake with good intentions. Thanks to social media and community support, Trudy was found and reunited with her family at the Swampscott Police Station that night.

Rada, the dog’s owner, who has had Trudy since she was a puppy, was relieved that the situation had a happy ending.
