Jacksonville, FL – A family’s Christmas wish was granted when their missing dog, Athena, returned home on Christmas Eve.
After being lost for more than a week, the 4-year-old German Shepherd showed up at the door around 2:30 a.m., pawing at it and ringing the doorbell.
The family had been searching tirelessly, with the community helping by reviewing doorbell camera footage. Athena had been spotted on several cameras after she went missing on December 15. Though the family was heartbroken during the search, their joy was overwhelming when Athena returned.
The experience has left her more vocal, with the family noting she hasn’t stopped whining or howling since. They plan to have Athena microchipped and spayed after the holidays.
