Good boy! Newnan police dog sniffs out missing elderly person

NEWNAN, GA – Newnan Police dog Flash helped find a missing elderly person within seven minutes on Veterans Day.

The individual had been missing for five hours when the Heard County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance around 1 a.m. Officer Lyle brought in Flash, an 8-month-old bloodhound, to help with the search.

After receiving a hat belonging to the missing man, Flash quickly picked up the scent and tracked him down. The elderly man had fallen and was injured but still conscious. Flash’s fast work impressed Chief Brent Blankenship, who praised the dog’s abilities.

Flash, a recent addition to the department, was bought with funds from the Newnan-Coweta Public Safety Foundation. After the successful search, Flash was rewarded with his favorite treat—chicken.
