Hero dog dies after saving family from house fire in Colorado

JEFFERSON COUNTY, CO – Investigators are still looking into what caused a fire inside a Jefferson County home. It happened last Wednesday on South Ward Way near West Belleview Avenue and South Simms Street.

The family, who lost their home but escaped safely, credits their dog, Cuddles, for saving their lives.

Cuddles woke up the family by barking, alerting them to the danger. Despite being found later under a bed and likely succumbing to smoke inhalation, her actions were crucial.

The family is grateful for community support and has set up a GoFundMe to help with expenses. They emphasize the importance of having a fire-proof safe to protect important documents and valuables.
