Illinois woman trains rescue pup as therapy dog after losing beloved companion

ROCK ISLAND, IL – For years, Sharon Cramer and her therapy dog Bailey brought comfort to many in the community. Bailey was more than just a pet; she was Sharon’s steadfast companion and a source of joy for countless people.

After Bailey’s passing, Sharon, despite being 80, considered adopting and training a new therapy dog. She found Adam, a rescue puppy with a troubled past, through the Muscatine rescue group “It Takes a Village.”

Adam, who was part of a large group of dogs surrendered by breeders, initially struggled but has since thrived under Sharon’s care.

Although Sharon is aware that Adam might outlive her, she has made arrangements for her son and daughter-in-law to care for him in the future. She remains hopeful that Adam will become her third certified therapy dog, continuing the legacy of comfort and joy established with Bailey.
