K-9 reunites child found walking alone on road with his family

INDIAN TRAIL, N.C. – A K-9 named Remi in North Carolina reunited a child who had been found wandering on the road alone with his family.

The child, who has autism and is nonverbal, was discovered on Waxhaw Indian Trail Road. With no immediate leads on the child’s home, deputies enlisted Remi, a bloodhound, to track the child’s scent. Using a scent sample from the child’s sweat, Remi successfully traced back to the family’s home about half a mile away.

The child was safely returned to his family, and authorities found no criminal wrongdoing. Union County Sheriff’s Office praised the efforts of both the community and law enforcement in achieving a positive outcome.
