Meet Bo: The 2024 American Humane Hero Dog Award Winner

Gastonia, N.C. – The 2024 American Humane Hero Dog Award has been awarded to Bo, a police dog from the Gastonia Police Department in North Carolina.

The 18-month-old bloodhound, alongside his handler Sgt. David Rowland, has saved lives since beginning his career in October 2023. Bo’s remarkable achievements include locating a missing elderly dementia patient, finding an 11-year-old child with autism, tracking down robbery suspects, and rescuing a 7-year-old child kidnapped at knifepoint.

American Humane praised Bo for his courage and exceptional scent tracking skills. He will be honored at the 14th Annual Hero Dog Awards Gala in Palm Beach, Florida, in January 2024.
