Meet Gracie, Glacier National Park’s Cutest Ranger

Columbia Falls, MT – Logan Pass in Glacier National Park is a popular spot for both visitors and wildlife, known for its stunning views and diverse animals like mountain goats and bighorn sheep.

To enhance safety, Gracie, a 10-year-old Border Collie and certified B.A.R.K. Ranger, patrols the area with her handler, Mark Biel. Trained in non-lethal hazing techniques, Gracie encourages wildlife to maintain a safe distance from visitors.

Biel started the program in 2015 to address concerns about wildlife encounters. Gracie’s presence helps educate the public about responsible wildlife interactions while ensuring visitor safety. In winter, she shifts focus to urban areas, deterring deer and reducing mountain lion risks.

Gracie’s charming demeanor makes her a favorite among park-goers while effectively promoting wildlife preservation.
