Meet Ofc. Grace Luna! | IMPD hosts swearing-in ceremony for new therapy dog

Indianapolis, IN – The Indianapolis Metro Police Department (IMPD) recently welcomed a new member to its team — Ofc. Grace Luna, a therapy dog dedicated to supporting victims of trauma.

On November 25, 2024, the department introduced Grace, a 1-year-old Golden Retriever, who will serve as an invaluable resource for the Victim Assistance Unit.

Grace underwent extensive training with Ultimate Canine, learning over 20 commands designed to provide emotional comfort to those in need. Funded by the Central Indiana Police Foundation, her training prepares her to assist individuals experiencing stress or trauma.

Grace joins two other therapy dogs, Ofc. Gus and Ofc. Allie, who support IMPD officers and staff. Her handler, Lisa Brown, completed specialized training to work with Grace. Chief of Police Chris Bailey expressed confidence that Grace will positively impact the community.
