Pinellas Park police welcome electronic detection K-9

PINELLAS PARK, FLThe Pinellas Park Police Department has welcomed Jesse, a highly specialized K9 trained in Electronic Storage Detection.

Jesse possesses rare skills that allow him to sniff out electronics like phones and micro-SD cards, even in clever hiding spots such as walls or double-sided coins. He’s one of only 12 such K9s in Florida and plays a crucial role in detecting devices used in crimes like sex trafficking and child exploitation.

Jesse, donated by the non-profit Defenders for Children, not only aids in criminal investigations but also serves as a therapy dog. His handler, Detective Brian Schibler, emphasizes Jesse’s effectiveness in finding devices missed by human detectives, illustrating his immediate impact in recent investigations.

The team trains rigorously and is available to assist law enforcement agencies statewide.
