Retired military dogs reunite with their former Marine Corps handlers after years apart

Tyler, TX – Two military service members – U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Isaac Weissend and Marine Corps veteran Dalton Stone – have been reunited with the dogs they handled in service overseas.

Weissend and Stone, former military dog handlers, bonded deeply in Japan with their German shepherd partners, Poker and Aida. Both dogs served honorably, with Poker even protecting President Joe Biden during a mission in Korea.

Separated in 2022 due to reassignment and retirement, Weissend and Stone adopted Poker and Aida with the help of American Humane. After a year apart, the dogs were reunited with their handlers in Texas on May 4, 2024.
