Rosie the rescued rescue dog had ‘great makings for the job’ in Johnson County

GREENWOOD, Ind. — Rosie is a certified search and rescue dog working for the White River Township Fire Department in Johnson County.

Rosie is trained to find human remains or the scent of a missing person. The German Shepherd mix is certified for searches on land and water, but she also comforts first responders after traumatic runs.

Rosie was abandoned, tied to a tree after its owner says he lost his house and job from COVID-19.
