Rottweiler and her pups rescued after spending days in Park Fire burn scar

Butte County, CA – A rottweiler and her puppies left behind after their owner’s vehicle broke down while evacuating from the Park Fire in Butte County on Wednesday were rescued days later by a Butte County Search and Rescue member.

The owner’s truck disabled in a remote area near Cohasset, and although the location was reported to first responders, access was initially impossible.

Skaggs, who reached the site by helicopter and running over a mile, found the dogs alive but the father rottweiler had not survived. He provided the dogs with water and food, then transported them to Chico airport.

The dogs are now being cared for by the North Valley Animal Disaster Group.
