Huntington Beach, CA – A group of talented canine surfers caught waves with their human partners in Huntington Beach Friday as part of the annual Purina Pro Plan Incredible Dog Challenges & Surf Dog Competition.
Dogs of all ages, sizes, and breeds participated enthusiastically with their human companions. Many dogs naturally enjoy water and find purpose in activities like surfing.
Some dogs learned to surf from their surfing enthusiast humans. Steve Drottar, a lifelong surfer, and his golden Labrador Rosie have been surfing together since Rosie was 7 months old, hitting the waves about four times a week. Another participant, Kentucky Gallahue, and his dog Derby showed off their matching blue mohawks, with Gallahue sharing how Derby loves to join him in activities, making surfing competitions a favorite for them.
