KINGSPORT, TN – A Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper was caught on camera helping a dog get out of traffic in the pouring rain in Kingsport on Friday afternoon.
Trooper Lance Willis was driving on Fort Henry Drive when he encountered slowed traffic, initially thinking there was a crash. As he approached, he saw a German Shepherd walking slowly amidst the rain.
Willis pulled into the turn lane, activated his emergency lights, and stopped traffic. He called the dog over, which then got into his cruiser. He later handed the dog over to animal control in a nearby parking lot.
The dog had a collar, and Willis hopes the owner sees the video to know their pet is safe.
