Morgantown, WV – The Hearts of Gold service dog training program at West Virginia University is making a significant impact on military veterans, offering them life-changing support through specially trained dogs.
With a $200,000 donation, the program can now expand, adding a transport van and on-site kennels to improve training efficiency. The program, which currently helps veterans within 100 miles of WVU, provides service dogs at no cost, aiding veterans like Jennifer Gieseke, who regained her independence after receiving a service dog, and Clifton VanGilder, who relies on his dog for mobility and emotional support.
The program’s impact is significant, not only helping veterans with PTSD and physical challenges but also reducing veteran suicide.
