DULUTH, GA – The Duluth Police Department has a new officer on the force, but he’s not your typical recruit.
Meet Maverick, a Hanoverian Plott Hound with a special talent for finding missing people thanks to his exceptional scenting and tracking abilities. Recently, Maverick used his keen sense of smell to locate a missing four-year-old girl with autism, successfully reuniting her with her family.
Maverick’s skills were further demonstrated when he helped find an elderly man missing in the woods, highlighting the significant impact he’s already making in the department.
Officer John Bustamante and his K-9 partner, Maverick, form a highly effective team in the Duluth Police Department. Their strong bond is crucial to their success, and Bustamante finds the work deeply rewarding. They also engage with the community through hospital and school visits.
