Lost poodle Lucy found safe after community search

NACOGDOCHES, TX – A community’s love and determination brought hope to Nacogdoches when a beloved dog went missing.

Lucy, a 2-year-old red standard poodle, had vanished after running away from her new owner outside a vet clinic last Thursday. As the days went on, worry set in, but the community refused to give up. Their shared sense of compassion and urgency sparked a tireless search that would bring them together in unexpected ways.

A Facebook page called Help Rescue Lucy was quickly created, rallying over 900 followers who were eager to help. Volunteers, led by Kelly Floyd, coordinated efforts and encouraged people not to chase Lucy, as it could frighten her away.

After initial search attempts failed, they set up a humane trap using ribs from a local restaurant, narrowing their focus to the HWY 7 area. Thanks to careful planning and an outpouring of community support, Lucy was finally found, safely captured, and brought in for veterinary care.

Thanks to the combined efforts and strategic search planning, Lucy was found safe after six days of searching.
